Ever After – Live at Southampton Arts Center

Martin Fabricius, Steve Swallow, Brad Shepik, Claes Brondal

Ever After brings together Danish vibraphonist Martin Fabricius with bassist Steve Swallow, guitarist Brad Shepik and drummer Claes Brondal for a live recording from Southampton Arts Center in 2018. The quartet had never played together before, meeting for only a few hours of rehearsal and soundcheck before the concert.

The album combines five compositions by Fabricius with three by Swallow, moving between lyrical, spacious passages and more energetic interplay. Fabricius, a former student of Gary Burton, draws on a musical lineage closely connected to Swallow, while the quartet finds its own sound in the moment.
UK Jazz News described the concert as a “special occasion” and concluded: “It’s a treat to have the: ‘What’s going to happen?’ question answered with music and performances this good.”
Ever After is released October 2, 2026 on Caretone Records.
